Armenian Gymnasts Return Home with Seven Medals from Gymnastics World Cup

Zvartnots International Airport was full of excitement, applause, and pride on Easter night as Armenia’s national gymnastics team returned home after a winning series of victories in the 2025 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup. Crowds gathered to welcome the athletes who brought back multiple medals—including several golds—lifting Armenia’s flag high on the world stage.

The Armenian Report’s Ani and Erik were there to capture the emotional homecoming, sharing in the joy and celebration with proud families, fans, and coaches who waited eagerly for their heroes. These gymnasts didn’t just bring home medals—they brought back honor, strength, and a renewed sense of national pride.

Hamlet Manukyan: Rising Star with a Golden Future

Among the returning champions was Hamlet Manukyan, a young and promising talent who stunned the world with his powerful performances. Competing in Doha, Qatar, Manukyan won two gold medals on the pommel horse—an incredible achievement for an athlete so early in his career.

“It’s a feeling of great pride when I see the Armenian tricolor raised and hear the national anthem during competitions,” Manukyan told The Armenian Report. “I believe I accomplished the task ahead of me—I executed my routines well and correctly.”

Hamlet’s focus, strength, and dedication are already making him a role model for younger athletes and a symbol of Armenia’s bright future in gymnastics.

Veterans Leading the Way

Another standout athlete, Vahagn Davtyan, a two-time European silver medalist, also spoke about the team’s journey. “We may not have achieved everything perfectly, but we’re returning with more than one medal—including gold,” he said to us. His words showed both the high standards and humble spirit of Armenia’s elite gymnasts.

Arthur Davtyan: The Heart of Armenian Gymnastics

No story about Armenian gymnastics is complete without mentioning Arthur Davtyan, the most decorated gymnast in Armenian history. In Doha, he earned yet another gold medal in the vault final, scoring an impressive 14.449. This marked his third gold of 2025 in the World Cup series, adding to earlier victories in Cottbus (Germany) and Antalya (Turkey). He also picked up a bronze medal in Osijek (Croatia).

Arthur Davtyan’s career is a shining example of excellence. His long list of achievements includes Olympic silver and bronze medals, a world championship, two European championships, and multiple World Cup titles. He has become a national treasure, admired not only for his skills but for his unwavering dedication to representing Armenia with pride.

Armenia’s Medal Wave in 2025

Led by head coach Hakob Serobyan, the Armenian team has competed in four of the five World Cup stages this year. Their results speak for themselves:

  • Vahagn Davtyan: Silver (Doha), Gold (Cottbus)
