Azerbaijan Fires at Armenian Positions in Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces of Armenia
Azerbaijani armed forces have begun gunfire targeting Armenian combat positions in Gegharkunik and Syunik provinces. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Armenia has disclosed that these incidents occurred on April 1 at 10 pm in Kut, located within Gegharkunik province, and on April 2 at 12:40 am in Tegh, situated in Syunik Province.
However, the MoD has quickly responded to allegations from the Azerbaijani side, refuting claims that Armenian Armed Forces had engaged in firing towards Azerbaijani combat positions along the southwestern border between 10:00 am and 10:10 pm on April 1. The MoD emphasizes that no such violations were recorded in the specified directions mentioned by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
The exchange of fire shows the ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, following the recent mass exodus and occupation of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
