Azerbaijan Opens Fire at Farmers in Artsakh, Once Again Breaching Ceasefire

On June 14, the Azerbaijani military once again breached the ceasefire in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh), firing in three different directions, as reported by the Artsakh Defense Army on Thursday.

The Defense Army issued a statement revealing that Azerbaijani troops opened fire in the northern, eastern, and north-western directions of the line of contact, escalating tensions in the region once again.

Moreover, between the hours of 9:15 and 11:14 am on the same day, the Azerbaijani forces unleashed gunfire at farmers who were simply carrying out their agricultural works in the Matchkalashen and Tchartar communities. Fortunately, Artsakh did not suffer any casualties as a result of this latest ceasefire violation.

The Defense Army promptly reported the incident of the breach to the Russian peacekeeping command, seeking intervention and attention to the volatile situation on the ground.

As of June 15, at 9:30 am, the situation on the line of contact appeared to be relatively stable, although the recent aggression has undoubtedly increased tensions and concern among the local population.

The recent outbreak of violence in Nagorno Karabakh has been a cause for global worry, given the region's history of conflict. The September 2020 war unleashed by Azerbaijan resulted in significant loss of life and property, prompting Russia's intervention to implement a ceasefire and send peacekeeping forces.

The ongoing situation remains delicate, and the international community is closely monitoring the developments in the region. Stability and peace are of utmost importance to prevent further loss and to facilitate a peaceful resolution for the Armenians of Artsakh.

The breach of the ceasefire, particularly targeting innocent farmers, has drawn attention to the need for continued efforts by all parties involved to abide by the ceasefire agreement and work towards lasting peace.

While the situation on the ground is being closely watched, the international community calls for restraint and renewed efforts in dialogue to find a peaceful resolution to the long-standing conflict in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh).
