Azerbaijani Armed Forces Attack and Kill Armenian Servicemen Within the Territory of Armenia: Tatoyan

The Armenian servicemen who were killed and injured today by Azerbaijani armed servicemen in the Nerkin Hand village of Syunik Province were hit from positions within the territory of Armenia, specifically from areas that were invaded by Azerbaijani forces. Arman Tatoyan, the former Human Rights Defender (ombudsman) of Armenia, noted this on Facebook. He added the following:

“Any presence of Azerbaijani armed servicemen in the vicinity of any community of Armenia or on the roads between communities is unlawful, criminal. Moreover, here we are talking about the Azerbaijani armed servicemen who invaded Armenia. This brazen Azerbaijani behavior is also a consequence of the fact that the Armenian government, for their political interests, have been justifying Azerbaijani crimes and invasions in every possible way, declaring that Azerbaijani armed servicemen are present in their territories. The Azerbaijani authorities also took advantage of the opportunity gifted to them, strengthened their positions. In parallel to this, they were making false declarations of peace, at the same time deepening Armenian hatred and enmity. I published the numerous fact-finding missions’ results in Nerkin Hand village of Syunik province,” Tatoyan wrote and explained.

The former Human Rights Defender brought attention to this egregious violation, emphasizing the unlawful and criminal nature of any presence of Azerbaijani armed servicemen within Armenia's communities or on the roads between them.

Tatoyan expressed deep concern and highlighted the impact of the Armenian government's justifications, suggesting that it has inadvertently provided an opportunity for Azerbaijani authorities to strengthen their positions. 

He emphasized that he has published the results of numerous fact-finding missions in the Nerkin Hand village of Syunik province, shedding light on the complex situation and urging attention to the violations taking place within Armenian territory.
