Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a threat to Armenians, urging them to acknowledge current realities and forge a path towards normalized relations with Turkey.
In remarks following his return from Iraq, Erdogan emphasized the need for Armenia to let go of past grievances [Armenian Genocide] and instead focus on present circumstances. "Now a new order is being established in the region. It is time to abandon baseless memories, it is better to act based on the realities of the present time. Now [Armenian PM] Nikol Pashinyan also understands this," Erdogan stated, as reported by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of creating new roadmaps grounded in reality, expressing hope that Armenia would break free from what he referred to as the darkness imposed by the Armenian diaspora. He envisioned a future where Armenia embraces fresh initiatives for a brighter tomorrow.
"Now a new order is being established in the region. It is time to abandon baseless memories, it is better to act based on the realities of the present time. Now [Armenian PM Nikol] Pashinyan also understands this. Now is the time to create new roadmaps on a realistic basis. I hope that Armenia will get rid of the darkness into which it was dragged by the [Armenian] diaspora and will choose the path of new undertakings for the sake of a bright future," the Turkish president said.
"The window of opportunity will not always be open, and [therefore] it is indispensable to use the moment effectively," Erdogan threatened.
“A new order is already being created in the region. Now is the time to form a new road map on a realistic basis for the normalization of relations with Turkey,” Erdogan continued.
He said that he hopes that Armenia will choose the path towards a bright future.
"The doors of opportunity cannot remain open forever. As long as they are open, it should be appreciated. I hope Armenia will choose the right path and a new era will begin," the Turkish President said.
