Gas Station Shut Down in Artsakh as Azerbaijan Blockade Continues

Compressed Natural Gas Fueling Stations in all of Artsakh will be closed from January 24, the Information Headquarters of Artsakh said in a statement.

“Gas supply from Armenia to Artsakh remains suspended due to the intervention of the Azerbaijani side. In the recent days it was possible to ensure gas at healthcare facilities, bread bakeries, and some volume to gas fueling stations thanks to the accumulation of gas in the pipelines. However, given the queues at the gas fueling stations and the limited volume of gas, it was decided that the accumulated gas will from now on be provided only to healthcare facilities and other essential facilities, while the work of the gas fueling stations will be suspended until the gas supply is restored. In order to ensure the uninterrupted work of organizations carrying out public service and rendering public services the vehicles of these organizations will be provided with gasoline and diesel fuel. The public will be additionally notified on changes in the situation,” the Artsakh Information Headquarters said.

Azerbaijan is keeping the Lachin Corridor blocked since December 12, 2022. The corridor is Nagorno Karabakh’s (Artsakh) only road to Armenia and the rest of the world. The blockade has caused an ongoing humanitarian crisis with widespread shortages of essential supplies such as food, medicine, gas, electricity, etc.
