Gevorg Papoyan Appointed Armenia's New Economy Minister

In a decree signed by President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Gevorg Papoyan has been appointed as the Minister of Economy of Armenia, following the recommendation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The official announcement was made on Tuesday, ushering in a new chapter for Armenia's economic leadership.


The appointment comes after the dismissal of Vahan Kerobyan on February 14, who faced charges under the Armenian Criminal Code related to the misuse of official powers and involvement in the criminal case concerning the Synergy software company.


Papoyan, born on February 11, 1987, in the village of Ujan in the Aragatsotn province. He graduated from the Armenian State University of Economics in 2008, Papoyan continued his academic journey, earning a post-graduate degree in the Department of Marketing of ASUE in 2011, where he is now an Associate Professor.


Papoyan's professional journey includes roles at prominent organizations such as LLC "IMEX GROUP" and LLC "Z AND A," where he served as a specialist in marketing research.


His academic contributions are noteworthy, with authorship of a textbook and numerous scientific articles. Since 2011, he has also shared his knowledge as a lecturer at the Department of Marketing of ASUE.


His experience extends to managerial positions, having served as the Head of the Marketing Department and later as the Deputy Director of "BD GROUP" LLC from 2015 to 2019. In addition to his corporate roles, Papoyan entered the political arena, being elected as a Member of the National Assembly on December 9, 2018, representing the "My Step" alliance of parties from the electoral district #3.


Gevorg Papoyan is married and has a child.
