Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Malkhas Amoyan has secured his first Olympic bronze medal at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games. Competing in the 77 kg category, Amoyan triumphed over Diaspora Armenian from Uzbekistan Aram Vardanyan with a close score of 6:5, earning his place on the podium and making his Olympic debut a memorable one.


The journey to the bronze medal was not without its challenges. Amoyan, a world champion and three-time European champion, faced a tough semifinal match against Japan's Nao Kusaka. Kusaka, a bronze medalist at the World Championship and Asian champion, edged out Amoyan with a score of 3:1, preventing him from advancing to the final.
