San Diego County Declares April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day
Today City of San Diego proclaimed April 24 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day throughout San Diego County, recognizing a tragedy that has long been denied.
San Diego County Board of Supervisors member Joel Anderson presented the proclamation today during the city meeting.
“This morning with a heavy heart, we recognize to remember the plight of the Armenian people against the systematic extermination of 1.5 million people. The only way to stop history from repeating itself is for us to never forget,” said the Community Supervisor.
Anderson was joined by Armenian community members of San Diego.
