Two Soldiers Killed in Military Helicopter Crash During Training Mission in Armenia

In the early morning of July 19, a tragic accident occurred in Armenia, resulting in the deaths of two pilots. A military helicopter crashed in the Yegvard area of the Kotayk region around 9:50 AM local time. The helicopter was performing a routine training flight when the incident took place.
According to reports from Shamshyan.com, the helicopter went down on the territory of Yegvard, leading to the immediate death of both pilots on board. Their bodies were discovered in the cockpit of the helicopter.
The Armenian Defense Ministry confirmed the crash, identifying the aircraft as an An-2 airplane. The spokesperson for the Defense Ministry, Aram Torosyan, provided a statement confirming the deaths of the pilots and offering condolences to their families, friends, and colleagues. "The Defense Ministry expresses condolences to the family members, relatives, and coworkers of the deceased pilots," Torosyan said.
Following the crash, investigators from the Investigative Committee and the Garrison Investigation Department arrived at the scene to determine the cause of the accident. Rescue teams worked diligently to recover the bodies of the pilots from the wreckage. The crash site quickly became a hub of activity as authorities sought to piece together what had led to this tragic event.
The Armenian Defense Ministry released a statement identifying the pilots who lost their lives in the crash. Senior Lieutenant Armen Khachikovich Isakhanyan and cadet Armen Karenovich Khachatryan were the two individuals killed. The Ministry once again expressed their deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the fallen pilots.
The helicopter was on a training mission when it crashed. The military training airfield, located in the Kotayk region, serves as a base for such flights. Despite the routine nature of these exercises, this incident shows the inherent risks involved in military training operations.
