USAID Allocates $5 Million to Boost Amazon Web Services and Armenian Government Partnership

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a new funding initiative aimed at advancing digital transformation in Armenia. Samantha Power, the USAID Administrator, revealed that $5 million will be allocated to enhance the collaboration between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Government of Armenia.


Power made this announcement during a joint statement with Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia. She emphasized that the funding is designed to promote the Armenian government's efforts in digitalization, technology, and cybersecurity. The collaboration aims to turn Armenia's vision of a modern, resilient digital infrastructure into reality.

"We see the Armenian government engaging in digitalization, technology, and cybersecurity, wanting to turn their vision into reality," Power said. She expressed gratitude to Amazon for its role in helping Armenia achieve this vision.


The collaboration between AWS and the Armenian government focuses on several key areas: strengthening digital systems, digitizing public services, and enhancing the country's resilience to cyberattacks. Power emphasized that secure and reliable digital systems are essential for the digitalization of public services. These systems must be able to withstand cyber threats while respecting the privacy and personal data of the Armenian people.

Power announced the $5 million funding with great enthusiasm, stating that it will significantly advance the partnership between AWS and the Armenian government. The funding will facilitate the development of digital infrastructure and cloud services in Armenia.


The Armenian government, with the support of AWS, plans to promote expert development and provide innovative technologies for its citizens. This collaboration will include training services in cloud computing and cybersecurity. These efforts aim to help Armenia rapidly develop and digitize its systems, strengthening its sovereignty and protecting it from potential cyber threats.


According to Power, the cooperation between AWS and Armenia will not only provide reliable information to Armenian citizens but also create a foundation for the government to serve its people more effectively. She believes that this initiative will increase international interest in Armenia, potentially creating new jobs and helping families earn more money.


"This initiative of the international business community can increase interest in Armenia. Most likely, it will also create new jobs, help families start earning more money," Power said. She added that this partnership is being developed at the right time and in the right place, aiming to help Armenia build an effective and long-lasting democracy that serves the Armenian people.
